Place Issue 65# Launch party – Stefan Marx Recap
Every now and then I think back to a very quiet moment in my life, a moment just after I listened to John Cleese’s high informative & entertaining speech about creativity a moment similar to this moment now.
In this speech, he talks about the two modes of creativity #1 the open mode, #2 the closed mode. In the latter you do, you have decided on an idea and you execute your plan. A plan you created in the “open” mode, a state in which you allow all your thoughts to be there is no wrong and there is no idea too big to be realized.
The point that I am getting at is that we spent a whole lot of time in the open mode conjuring up potential magazines but that with the launch of our issue #65 we have officially with the help of other executed an idea that might have sounded Ludacris when it first came to mind.
Now, we didn’t do all this alone, we had a special trump card in Stefan Marx and so when it came to launching the issue we had to play the Marx card for you to get something out of the ordinary. So without further ado, scroll through one of our most creative recaps and afterwards go to your local shop to pick up Issue #65 “The Stefan Marx Issue”.

Our sincere gratitude goes out to Nike Sb for the support, Sondre & Tereza for their musical efforts and of course all who attended both to see the new issue and the ones that came to show love to the women that skated their asses of in “GIZMO” you are the best!

ROMAIN BATARD – GIDDY #8
At first when I started the Giddy series I wanted every one of them to have a different theme but in the end, I think they all end up looking almost similar to one another, same style of music same vibe.
Romain Batard is back with one of the most interesting video series in skateboarding. And ever since he delivered that quote in our interview with him he has been steadily delivering Giddy’s with a stronger sense of concept and individuality.
Steve Malet kills it in number 8! He is one of Paris’ most exciting skaters out there right now even though he is not even originally from France. But Steve is only one reason and this Giddy truly delivers from the skating, the editing, the song choice and the special effects. It is a good rounded out piece of work!
Louis Deschamps – New York 1993
New York 1993 is a film by Louis Deschamps, a lot of people write “A Film By ….” and when is something a film? We are not sure but this video is not a video at times it truly is a film. This trip to New York Must have been magical for it to spawn so much output. Enjoy!
Alexis Jamet, Hugo Maillard, Clément Harpillard, Romain Batard, Eby Ghafarian and Erik Ellington.
Romain Batard – Giddy #03
Romain Batard has been putting out so much footage lately that we feel he might not have a day job anymore.
But truth be told, with skills like his maybe filming should be your only focus.
Hugo Maillard, Alexis jamet, Clément Harpillard, Louis Deschamps, and Eby Ghafarian.
People who know me are probably aware of the fact that visiting Paris for the first time last year changed quite a lot for me. Besides my growing excitement for the French language, music and architecture, I furthermore figured out that there is also a kind of French way to skate. So Romain Batard also became one of my favorite film makers and since Giddy #1 was already filled with tons of good footage, I knew what to expect for #2 right before I hit the play button.
Featuring Hugo Maillard, Joffrey Morel, Steve Malet, Vivien Feil, Pierre Subra, Hugo Corbin, Etienne Chatelain, Louis Perruchaud, Alban Ma Tri, Jérémy Garcia, Thibault Parcheminer, Charles Giron, Antoine Ternon, Julien Ducas, Louis Deschamps, Clément Harpillard, Vincent Houget and Benoit Leray.
A huge line up for this 6 minute long clip. Romain Batard picked up his VX1000 again and captured all these guys having fun in France.
Featuring Hugo Maillard, Louis Deschamps, Clément Harpillard, Yann Garin, Masaki Ui, Joffrey Morel, Alban Ma Tri, Juan Renoux, Amiel Kornicki, Hugo Corbin, Santiago Sasson, Thibault Proux, Louis Perruchaud, Paul Langsley, Hervé Leroy, Quentin Chambry, Augustin Giovannoni, Maxime Le Guyader, Simon Peltier, Samuel Dietzel, Justin Wagener, and Fred Plocque-Santos.
Lousy Tonic Livin
Two of our favorite brands get together for a fun little edit, nothing too crazy skating wise (some great manuals, though!) but the real treat is the music which makes this edit worth hearing.
